## Description

The Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Espírito Santo (IHGES) is a cultural and scholarly institution founded on June 12, 1916. Dedicated to the study of Brazil’s history and geography, it places particular emphasis on the state of Espírito Santo and its people. The institute advances this mission through lectures, meetings, seminars, courses, and publications, and has also supported authors by publishing works on the state’s history. Its key resource is the Revista do IHGES, a journal published since 1917. The institute has completed the digitization and online release of the journal’s full collection, making its issues available for public consultation through its website. This work involved volunteer members and contributions from cultural-sector partners, including support from Secult for a digitization project in 2016. The website also provides access to the institute’s publications and archival materials, helping preserve and share local historical knowledge. Through its educational activities, publishing, and digital archive, IHGES serves researchers and readers interested in the history and geography of Espírito Santo.
