## Description

IJsclub Westmaas is a community ice-skating association in Westmaas, in the Hoeksche Waard, with a history dating back to 1908. Founded as the Westmaassche IJsclub Binnenmaas, it is described as the village’s oldest sports association and now brings together around 200 members who share a passion for skating. Its purpose is to promote winter recreation and ice sports locally.

When freezing weather permits, volunteers prepare and maintain a natural-ice rink on the village’s land, including its lighting, and help ensure it is safe to use. The club aims to provide residents, especially young people, with opportunities to enjoy skating close to home. When conditions allow, it organizes competitions for schoolchildren; during severe frost, it may arrange skating tours and other ice activities. The association also shares news, newsletters, meeting information, and historical material with members and the wider community. Membership is open to skating enthusiasts, and the club welcomes people willing to support its work, including prospective board members.
