About
Description
Ike Trading Co., Ltd. Established in 1965 as a subsidiary of Ikeuchi Industry Co., Ltd., a leading hardwood plywood manufacturer in Japan, Ike Trading started as a sales office for Ikeuchi's products in the USA market. However, in the 1980s, due to various reasons, Ikeuchi stopped producing and selling plywood to the USA market.
That's when Ike Trading shifted its focus to trading wood products from outside its group companies. Ike Trading has always been a pioneer in the imported hardwood plywood business in the USA. They were the first US importer to bring Chinese hardwood plywood from China.
While they may not be the largest company, they have earned a reputable presence in all overseas buying markets and the US market. In 2017, due to countervailing and antidumping duties affecting Chinese plywood imports, Ike Trading seized the opportunity to enter plywood production in Vietnam. They successfully studied and tested Vietnamese indigenous plantation wood, such as Acacia, Eucalyptus, and mixed hardwood, for core veneer production.
They also established partnerships with Russian white birch veneer peeling mills to secure face and back veneer for their plywood production. Being a fancy plywood manufacturer in Japan, Ike Trading also sources American hardwood logs. This allows them to maintain a close relationship with their plywood suppliers and gain valuable insights about the quality and cost of the mills.
Moreover, Ike Trading has risen to various challenges over the years. They started producing veneer in Wisconsin in the late 1980s but later relocated the operation to Northern China due to market challenges. However, the Wisconsin site became one of their major log procurement yards in the US.
They have also established log yards in Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania to procure American hardwood logs, as well as log yards in Europe for European hardwood logs. In 2002, Ike Trading was acquired by OG Corporation, a large chemical trading company in Japan. This acquisition has allowed Ike Trading to utilize OG's robust financial strength through mega banks in Japan and Wells Fargo.
Today, Ike Trading Co., Ltd. They also sell logs to several countries including China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Egypt, and Europe. With a global presence and a commitment to quality and innovation, Ike Trading Co., Ltd
