First, they aim to preserve the past by restoring and maintaining historical sites along Route 66, allowing present and future generations to experience the road's heyday. Moreover, the association is dedicated to educating the public about the history and significance of Route 66, particularly in Illinois where the road begins. They achieve this through their Hall of Fame and Museum in Pontiac, as well as through their website, where they provide information, news, and stories about Route 66. Additionally, the association is actively involved in promoting the attractions, events, and businesses along Illinois' segment of Route 66. They organize a signature annual event called the Motor Tour, allowing travelers to explore the road and everything it has to offer. Through the sale of promotional items, such as T-shirts and collectible pins, the association funds its preservation efforts. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a unique family destination, Illinois' Route 66, with its charming attractions and out-of-the-ordinary points of interest, is the perfect place to travel. The Route 66 Association of Illinois takes pride in their segment of the road and is dedicated to helping visitors enjoy their experience.
