## Description

The Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) envisions thriving, diverse, and equitable communities. As a national research and advocacy organization, ILSR partners with allies across the country to build an American economy that prioritizes local needs and is accountable to people and the planet. Their goal is to empower individuals and communities to exercise power over their lives, whether it's providing for their families, sharing resources, or influencing government and business decisions. ILSR focuses on addressing the challenges of corporate control and diminishing community power, which weaken democracy and local economies. They offer solutions that harness the power of citizens and communities, from fighting against the influence of monopolies like Amazon to advocating for locally-driven broadband services and renewable energy. ILSR's initiatives include Energy Democracy, Community Broadband Networks, Independent Business, Waste to Wealth, and Composting for Community. Through research, advocacy, coalition-building, and partnerships, they work to dismantle systemic racism and promote a more decentralized and democratic economy. Join ILSR today to support their mission of building local power and creating sustainable and equitable communities.
