## Description

Iskandar Malaysia Ecolife Challenge (IMELC) is a transformative initiative launched in 2013 by the Johor State Education Department, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Designed to promote Carbon-Low Community (LCS) awareness among students, teachers, and their families, IMELC serves as a pivotal educational tool in fostering sustainable practices in alignment with Malaysia's vision for carbon neutrality by 2050.

The IMELC 2024 program, in collaboration with local authorities and organizations like UNICEF and Yayasan Hasanah, aims to engage approximately 100,000 Year 6 students from 907 primary schools in Johor. This initiative, supported by UNDP Accelerator Labs, digitized its operations to enhance accessibility and impact. 

As part of the Johor Sustainability Education Action Plan 2019-2025, IMELC not only involves formal and informal educational activities but also fosters competition and community involvement to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. Through rigorous training and advocacy, IMELC is committed to educating a new generation on climate action and environmental stewardship.
