## Description

One inspiring example of their mentorship program is the story of Reyana and Shannon. Reyana, a first-generation high school student with dreams of a career in dental health, initially had reservations about joining iMentor. However, when she met Shannon, she was pleasantly surprised by the immediate connection they shared. Shannon, a Black woman, had always believed in the power of representation and was drawn to the opportunity to support black and brown students on their path to higher education. As the mentorship progressed, Shannon and Reyana formed a strong bond, extending their relationship beyond the formal program meetings. They dined together, discussed college entrance exams and career choices, and Shannon even connected Reyana with her mother, a retired college counselor, for specialized guidance. Through Shannon's unwavering commitment, Reyana gained confidence, overcame challenges, and made the decision to attend St. Francis College to pursue her dream of becoming a dentist. This heartwarming story exemplifies the transformative impact of the iMentor program, not just on the mentees' lives but also on the mentors themselves, like Shannon, who gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by today's youth.
