The International Marine Minerals Society (IMMS) is a professional society that brings together individuals from industry, government agencies, and academia who share a common interest in marine minerals. Founded in 1987, IMMS aims to study and apply marine minerals as a resource to meet global demands for strategic minerals. They offer various products and services to their members, including membership opportunities, conferences, environmental management codes, and important announcements.

In 2022, IMMS will be hosting the 50th Underwater Minerals Conference (UMC), the world's largest gathering of ocean mineral stakeholders. This conference provides five days of timely and diverse information on underwater mineral exploration, environmental research, and mining. IMMS also encourages and supports young professionals in their study of marine minerals and research.
