## Description

The Inamori Foundation is a public-interest foundation established by Kazuo Inamori, founder and honorary chairman of Kyocera Corporation. Guided by the belief that serving people and society is among humanity’s highest pursuits, the foundation works to advance peace and prosperity by supporting science, civilization, and human spiritual development. Its activities also aim to foster international understanding.

The foundation’s best-known initiative is the Kyoto Prize, an international award recognizing significant contributions in advanced technology, basic sciences, and thought and the arts. It also provides research grants to promising researchers across diverse fields, including support through the Inamori Research Grants and InaRIS Fellowship.

Alongside its awards and research funding, the foundation runs public engagement programs that encourage learning, creativity, and connection. These include children’s science activities, the Children’s Discovery Support Project, INAMORI Music Day, and the Kyoto University–Inamori Foundation Kyoto Prize Symposium. Through events, educational initiatives, and research support, the foundation seeks to nurture intellectual achievement and enrich society.
