## Description

Stichting IN DE KIEKKAS is a heritage-focused foundation that documents and shares the history of Maastricht and its surroundings. Its work brings local stories to life through historical photographs, research, publications, and related cultural activities. The material featured includes images of Maastricht, its people, buildings, transport, and past events, alongside books and other media that explore the region’s heritage.

The foundation has promoted titles such as Wyck, entree van Maastricht and Het kanaal van Luik naar Maastricht, a study of a largely forgotten waterway. It has also offered the DVD Eus aajd Mestreech through its webshop and local retailers. Its interests extend beyond the city: the featured book Fahre mit Gas examines the international history of gas-powered trams, drawing on archival research, historical photographs, plans, and technical documents. The foundation’s activities also connect with exhibitions, local history, and heritage sites, including the Sint-Pieters museum at De Lichtenberg. Through these varied projects, IN DE KIEKKAS helps preserve historical knowledge and makes it accessible to readers, researchers, and anyone interested in Maastricht’s past.
