About

Description

The Indiana Primary Health Care Association, Inc. (IPHCA) has been advocating for quality healthcare in Indiana since 1982. They support the development of community-oriented primary care initiatives, including Community Health Centers (CHCs), which provide medical, dental, and behavioral health services.

IPHCA has a diverse membership that includes CHCs, individuals, and organizations who support their mission. Access to quality and affordable primary healthcare is a major issue in Indiana, with roughly 12% of Hoosiers (732,000+ people) lacking health insurance. Many of these uninsured individuals are children and low-wage workers.

Community Health Centers (CHCs) have emerged as a compassionate and proven response to this problem. For over 45 years, CHCs have served as a vital part of the nation's safety net by offering community-oriented, whole-person care in modern facilities. In Indiana alone, CHCs served as healthcare homes for over 500,000 patients last year, with approximately 90% of them having incomes below 200% of the Federal poverty level.

The Indiana Primary Health Care Association plays a crucial role in fostering the work of these Health Centers by championing accessible and community-driven quality healthcare. They support existing CHCs, facilitate the establishment of new ones, advocate for those in need, and address important healthcare access and quality issues in the state. IPHCA provides valuable services such as training and technical assistance to enhance the capabilities of CHCs.

They also offer resources in various categories, including behavioral health, clinical resources, COVID-19, emergency preparedness, finance and operations, government policy, health and well-being, mental health, oral health, outreach and enrollment, programs, quality improvement, social determinants of health, and workforce development. Overall, the Indiana Primary Health Care Association is dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality for all residents of Indiana through advocacy, support, and collaboration with Community Health Centers and other stakeholders
