## Description

**Brand Description: Consortium on Individual Development (CID)**

The Consortium on Individual Development (CID) is a pioneering research initiative established in 2012, uniting top researchers from prestigious Dutch institutions to explore the complex factors influencing child development. With funding from the Dutch Government's Gravitation Programme, CID's mission is to understand why some children thrive while others face challenges, investigating the interplay of genetic, environmental, and social influences.

Over a decade, CID's collaborative efforts resulted in significant findings across a breadth of disciplines, including behavioural genetics, developmental psychology, and neurocognitive science. The consortium's research encompasses six major cohorts, including the YOUth cohort and long-term studies like TRAILS and Generation-R, focusing on social competence and behavioral control—key skills for successful societal integration.

To celebrate the culmination of its research, CID partnered with popular science magazine New Scientist to produce special editions highlighting their work, including insights tailored for younger audiences, reflecting their commitment to knowledge dissemination and education. CID continues to impact the field through mentorship of emerging researchers and innovative studies.
