About
Description
Indybay is a non-commercial and democratic collective of independent media makers and outlets in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the local organizing unit of the global Indymedia network, Indybay aims to provide an information infrastructure for people and opinions that don't have access to corporate media resources. They offer various forms of media, including audio, video, photography, and internet distribution, to cover local events that are ignored or poorly covered by mainstream media.
Indybay's mission is to encourage diversity and cooperation in a world where globalization is not about exploitation, but about social, economic, and environmental justice. They also provide links to alternative media, activist, and research groups, and offer community classes for training in internet and media skills. As an all-volunteer organization, Indybay encourages individuals to get involved and help support their efforts to provide independent news and coverage of local events
