Infield Development Academy (IDA) provides baseball and softball infield training in Visalia, California, serving athletes across the Central Valley. Led by Karlan Andrews, a Fresno Pacific University infield and assistant coach, IDA focuses on helping players become confident, dependable defenders through purposeful instruction tailored to each athlete. The academy reports more than 500 athletes trained and over 75 college and professional players developed.

Training covers footwork, glove work, throwing, movement, timing, decision-making, communication, and game situations. Rather than relying on repetitive drills alone, sessions help players read different hops and angles, adjust, compete, and apply their skills on the field. Athletes can choose weekly small-group training, team sessions for groups of seven to twelve players, or remote coaching through the IDA app. Remote and app-supported programs include assigned drills, video submissions, coach feedback, and adjustments based on each player’s progress. Small groups pair athletes of similar ages and abilities, while team training develops shared infield fundamentals and coordination.
