## Description

Initiative Handarbeit is a central platform for people who enjoy making things by hand, bringing together people, brands and creative ideas. It aims to inspire more people to discover or develop their interest in handicrafts, with projects ranging from beginner-friendly first steps to more demanding challenges. Its website offers free instructions for knitting, sewing, crochet, embroidery, punch needle, macramé and painting, with patterns and ideas for women, men, children, teenagers and the home.

The platform also presents seasonal and themed DIY collections, including fashion, kids’ projects, bags and home-living designs. Its models are intended to remain wearable over time, reflecting the organization’s approach to sustainability. Visitors can explore a handcrafting encyclopedia with explanations of techniques, terms and knitting abbreviations, as well as a guide to measuring gauge.

Initiative Handarbeit shares lookbooks featuring manufacturers’ collections and runs creative initiatives such as the Mach dein Ding competition and the Lieblingsladen award for specialist craft shops. A newsletter keeps subscribers informed about new instructions and inspiration.
