Based in Lyon and beyond, the institute was founded by leaders of associations and businesses who are at the forefront of the ecological and solidarity transition in the region. As a nonprofit organization, they actively involve all individuals and structures that contribute to their development in their governance.

Institut Transitions has three main missions: to assist individuals in transitioning, to support the growth of transition-oriented organizations, and to guide traditional institutions in their transition efforts. They offer a variety of professional training programs such as Nouvelles Voies, Boîte à outils, and Transition Tout Terrain. With a team of experts who are deeply committed to the transition, Institut Transitions is at the heart of the ecological and solidarity transition ecosystem, collaborating with associations, public institutions, and ethical businesses to shape a sustainable society.
