## Description

Intermediae is an experimental cultural space of Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture and Sport, based at Matadero Madrid since 2007. It helped launch and inspire the complex, which is dedicated to contemporary creation in the city. Its work focuses on producing and showcasing artistic projects through experimentation, shared knowledge and collaborative learning.

Intermediae develops and presents programmes, exhibitions, workshops, performances and public events, often connecting artistic practice with social questions and local communities. Its projects explore themes including memory, grief, identity, disability, violence and urban life. The organisation also supports participatory cultural initiatives by artists, creators, cultural and social groups, including through its Intermediae Distribuido programme. Activities range from seed-sharing and local horticultural knowledge to community research, discussion and performance. Its agenda includes opportunities for audiences to take part, learn and exchange ideas, alongside presentations of completed work and publications.

Located at Matadero Madrid in Madrid, Intermediae serves as a platform for contemporary culture that encourages collaboration between creators, communities and the public.
