## Description

The International Oak Society (IOS) is a nonprofit organization that brings together oak enthusiasts from around the world. Established in 1992, the society is dedicated to the preservation, study, and appreciation of oaks, specifically the genus Quercus. With a global network comprising scientists, academics, conservationists, horticulturists, and passionate amateurs, the IOS aims to connect individuals who share a love for these majestic trees and their vital roles in natural ecosystems and human landscapes. Additionally, the IOS maintains a comprehensive database of oak species and cultivars, and serves as the International Cultivar Registration Authority for the Quercus genus. Furthermore, the IOS actively supports the conservation of endangered oak species and habitats, as well as the preservation of historic oak trees. These efforts, including research, advocacy, and restoration initiatives, are funded through the Oak Conservation and Research Fund.
