## Description

The Interstellar Research Centre is a division of Stellar Engines Ltd dedicated to advancing the scientific research needed to make interstellar travel a practical prospect. Its mission is to mature and develop starship capabilities toward design readiness around 2100, supporting the exploration of deep space, the possibility of reaching nearby stars, and research into ways to mitigate existential risks to humanity.

The Centre’s work and interests span a broad range of concepts and technologies. Its projects include fusion spacecraft, a 1000 AU probe, Project Icarus, Starshot, and world ships. It also explores SETI and SETA, dark energy, and the wider field of starship design. The organisation shares research and educational material through books, papers, posters, theses, articles, and other resources, alongside galleries, a store, and a blog.

The Centre presents interstellar research as both an opportunity to pursue humanity’s hopes and a means of addressing future threats. Its logo reflects this dual vision, with Pegasus representing technological solutions and a chimera symbolising potential dangers.
