Our journey began in 2013 when a Citizen TV feature called Period of Shame shed light on the challenges faced by primary school girls in Kenya who lacked access to sanitary towels. Inspired by this, our founder Janet Mbugua launched Inua Dada in 2014, and since then, we have made great strides in ending period poverty. Over the past 6 years, Inua Dada has achieved significant milestones. We organized the first-ever Menstrual Health Management Inclusion Conference, both physically and virtually, and were featured by BBC Africa for convening a virtual Period Party during the COVID-19 pandemic. We also launched the book MFT, which addresses period taboo and period poverty, becoming the first of its kind from East Africa. Recognizing our efforts, the Kulcyk Foundation named us as a notable organization fighting period poverty globally. Inua Dada Foundation continues to grow because of the unwavering belief and support of the world in our cause.
