## Description

Iowa Al-Anon/Alateen is a local resource for people affected by someone else’s drinking, connecting visitors with information about the Al-Anon Family Groups and Alateen. Al-Anon is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share experience, strength, and hope to address common challenges. Its members believe alcoholism affects families and that changes in attitudes can support recovery. The fellowship’s purpose is to help families of alcoholics through the Twelve Steps, mutual welcome and comfort, and understanding and encouragement for the alcoholic. Al-Anon is not affiliated with religious, political, or other organizations, does not take positions on outside controversies, and has no membership dues; it is supported by voluntary contributions.

The Iowa website provides information about meetings, Alateen, literature, anonymity, and the fellowship’s Steps, Traditions, Concepts, and Warranties. It also offers resources for members and professionals, public outreach information, group and district resources, newsletters, service materials, announcements, and a calendar. Visitors can find registration and payment information for Iowa Area Assemblies and Serenity Weekend events.
