Their systemic approach recognizes the complex and interconnected challenges in food systems and acknowledges the power relations that shape decision-making. Moreover, IPES-Food takes a democratic approach to knowledge, valuing cutting-edge science alongside experiential, indigenous, and traditional knowledge. As an independent organization, IPES-Food does not accept funding from governments or corporations, enabling them to provide objective and independent analysis. Their work is made possible by the support of funders such as The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, The Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind, the 11th Hour Foundation, and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung.
