## Description

IPMS Christchurch is the Christchurch branch of the International Plastic Modellers Society, a friendly club for people who enjoy scale modelling. Founded in 1987, it grew from the Christchurch Military Modelling Society, established in 1977. Members of all ages share their interests, discuss techniques and projects, and celebrate the variety of modelling subjects, from aircraft, armour, ships and motor vehicles to figurines and science fiction.

The club offers regular in-person meetings where visitors can meet members, talk about modelling and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Meetings are held at the Woolston Club in Christchurch, with events typically featuring informal gatherings and themed competitions or trophies, including awards for ship and aircraft models. The society also showcases members’ work through its online gallery and shares news and event updates on its website and Facebook group. Its annual club competition recognises achievements across categories, including figure painting and Best in Show.
