IRB Barcelona is an international leader in biomedical research, focusing on cancer, metastasis, and ageing. As a biomedical research centre, our goal is to eliminate diseases and create a society that is disease-free. We achieve this through our commitment to excellence in research, aiming to cure cancer and other diseases associated with ageing.

Our research results are applied to patients through technology transfer, working in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry and leading hospitals. Additionally, we prioritize knowledge dissemination, providing top-notch training in biomedical sciences to young researchers, students, and visitors. We also engage in open dialogue with the public through various scientific communication and outreach activities.

Established in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is located in the Barcelona Science Park and is part of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). Our excellence has been recognized by the State Research Agency, receiving three consecutive Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence Accreditations
