Independence Rising is a brand that is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities achieve their community-based living goals. Formerly known as the Center for Independent Living of Central Nebraska, Independence Rising serves 50 counties in Central and Western Nebraska. As one of two federally funded independent living centers in the state, their services are offered free of charge, on a sliding fee scale, and fee for service.

They work with consumers to provide various services, including living skills training, advocacy, information and referral, peer mentoring, and transition services. Independence Rising has a team of dedicated staff across the state who are committed to providing quality services. Led by Executive Director Irene Britt, who has been with the agency since 2000, they have a wealth of experience in the field of disability services.

The team also includes Helena Beyer, the Programs Quality Coordinator/Human Resource Specialist, and Mary Stockwell, the Deputy Programs Director. With their expertise and passion, Independence Rising is able to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities in Nebraska
