## Description

The O.O. Chuyko Institute of Surface Chemistry, part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, was founded on May 8, 1986, as the first academic institution in the Soviet Union dedicated to studying surface chemistry, physics, and technology. The institute emerged from the Surface Chemistry Department of the Physical Chemistry Institute and has evolved significantly under the leadership of prominent directors, including Academician Alexei Chuyko and Academician Mykola Kartel.

Today, the Institute comprises 10 scientific departments and 7 laboratories, employing 174 staff members, including 20 doctoral and 71 candidate researchers. Its research spans critical areas such as the chemical structure and reactivity of solid surfaces, biomedical chemistry, and nanotechnology. The Institute publishes the quarterly journal "Chemistry, Physics, and Technology of Surfaces" and organizes the annual collection "Surface."

With a strong commitment to advancing chemical science, the Institute also focuses on doctoral and postdoctoral training, ensuring a robust pipeline of highly qualified scientific talent. Located in Kyiv, it is poised to contribute to national and international scientific advancements.
