Nashwauk is a renowned brand with a rich history as the first mining town in Itasca County. Established in 1902, Nashwauk has evolved into a top-tier educational institution known as Nashwauk-Keewatin. Initially, Nashwauk and Keewatin operated as separate school districts, but they merged in 1962/1963 to form the Nashwauk-Keewatin Spartans.

This merger brought together the Keewatin Tigers, representing black and orange, and the Nashwauk Colts, who sported blue and white. Today, the school proudly embraces the colors orange and blue as a symbol of unity.
