## Description

Istituto Storico Parri – Bologna Metropolitana is a historical research and cultural institution founded in 1963 and named after Ferruccio Parri. It belongs to Italy’s national network of institutes dedicated to the history of the Resistance and the liberation movement. Its work focuses on the contemporary history of metropolitan Bologna, while also addressing national and international themes through research, education, public engagement, public history and digital history.

The institute preserves and makes historical sources accessible through its archives and specialist library. Its collections include paper records, photographs, audiovisual materials, sound documents, periodicals, pamphlets, posters and books. OpenParri brings more than 130 archival collections and over 700,000 records, including thousands of images, together in an online database for research and consultation. The digital library also provides remote access to digitized bibliographic and archival resources, supporting both preservation and wider public use.

The institute offers educational programs, publications, exhibitions and audiovisual productions, and hosts events and appointments related to history and civic culture.
