## Description

Italy Tree is a genealogy research website that helps people explore the history and family connections of Lapio, a comune in Avellino, Campania, Italy. Its Lapio archive brings together more than 22,000 indexed civil records, covering births, marriages, marriage banns, deaths, and other records from 1809 to 1945. Visitors can search the collection or browse registers by year and record type, with indexed details and images of the original registers available for research.

The site also provides background on the work behind the archive, including how a year and a half of indexing helped make the Antenati civil registers searchable. Beyond record searching, Italy Tree offers photographs of Lapio and links to further resources about the town, its families, local history, and Italian parish-record indexing projects. These include information on a Lapio family tree project spanning the 1600s to the present, as well as links to community and municipal resources. Italy Tree serves family historians and anyone interested in discovering Lapio’s past through historical records and local materials.
