## Description

It Gets Better is an organization that supports LGBTQ+ young people and helps them create safer, more inclusive communities. Through its Changemakers campaign, the organization funds youth-led projects developed by LGBTQ+ people ages 13 to 18 in collaboration with an adult at a registered nonprofit, public school, or charter school in the United States, Washington, D.C., or its territories. Grants of $5,000 and $10,000 support initiatives expected to reach at least 200 or 400 LGBTQ+ youth, respectively. Funded project ideas can include Pride celebrations, inclusive school resources, staff training, community service, leadership events, and youth-created publications. Since 2022, the program has awarded more than $1.6 million to projects in schools and communities across the United States and Canada. It prioritizes initiatives supporting LGBTQ+ youth of color, transgender and nonbinary youth, and LGBTQ+ youth with disabilities. The campaign also offers project-planning guidance, application resources, informational sessions, and Spanish-language support for applicants, helping young leaders turn local ideas into measurable community impact.
