## Description

The Institute for Information Law (IViR) is a research institute at the University of Amsterdam focused on the legal challenges shaping the information society. Through cutting-edge research, it contributes to the development of information law and provides a forum for critical debate on the needs, interests, rights and freedoms affected by digital technologies and media. Its work spans areas including copyright, privacy, media law, platform regulation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital sovereignty and fundamental rights. IViR shares its research through publications, expert commentary, reports and projects, and brings together scholars, practitioners and the wider public through lectures, symposiums, workshops and other events. The institute also offers education in information law, including a Master’s programme, an Advanced LLM in Technology Governance, international summer courses and opportunities for visiting scholars. Its activities connect academic research with current legal and policy questions, from generative AI and content moderation to the regulation of digital platforms.
