After successful rehabilitation, he was introduced to a herd of wild elephants, only to be repeatedly rejected. However, fate intervened and in 2002, Jabulani and a herd of orphaned elephants were rescued from Zimbabwe's land reformation process. Tokwe, the matriarch of the herd, lovingly accepted Jabulani, forming a unique and blended herd.

Today, Jabulani and the HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development) work together to provide a sanctuary for orphaned elephants in need of a family. Over the years, three more orphaned elephants have been welcomed into the Jabulani herd.
