## Description

The James Madison Foundation is dedicated to improving teaching about the United States Constitution in secondary schools. Established by Congress in 1986, it is an independent agency of the Executive Branch of the federal government. The Foundation's programs are funded by Congress and generous contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Its daily operations are overseen by a president and a small staff, with a Board of Trustees providing guidance. Located in Alexandria, Virginia, the Foundation offers various initiatives and resources. These include the James Madison Fellowship Program, which supports graduate study focused on the Constitution and its contemporary relevance. Through this program, recipients develop research, writing, and analytical skills while forming professional connections that shape their career aspirations. The Foundation is committed to ensuring that future generations of American citizens are guided by the principles of constitutional government. Discrimination is strictly prohibited, and the Foundation is proud to welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds.
