## Description

Japan Climate Initiative (JCI) is a nationwide network connecting businesses, local governments, financial institutions, research bodies, and civil society organizations working to accelerate climate action. Established in 2018 with 105 participants, it has grown to more than 850 non-governmental actors. Members support the declaration “Joining the forefront of global decarbonization from Japan” and collaborate to advance the Paris Agreement’s goal of a decarbonized society by 2050.

JCI provides a platform for information sharing, cooperation, public statements, events, and engagement with climate initiatives in Japan and internationally. Its work promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, climate disclosure, nature and land-use action, adaptation, resilience, and public understanding. The network also features the Race to Zero Circle, supporting efforts toward net-zero emissions.

Participation is open to eligible organizations with concrete climate action, including companies, municipalities, financial institutions, universities, and NGOs. There are no membership fees or fixed obligations; organizations apply through JCI’s participation process.
