## Description

The Japan Cartographers Association (JCA) is an academic organization founded in November 1962 to advance the study and practice of cartography. It supports research on maps, encourages the collection and exchange of information, promotes the provision of high-quality map information, and contributes to the development of mapmaking and map-information technologies. The association brings together people interested in cartography through regular and regional conferences, seminars, meetings, specialist groups, and other events. It publishes the journal Map: The Science of Spatial Representation and undertakes editorial and publishing activities that share research and knowledge. Its program also includes international symposia, educational outreach, mapmaking workshops, and awards recognizing contributions such as research, publications, education, and map exhibitions. The JCA provides information about membership, its organization, professional standards, and intellectual property considerations, helping members and the public engage with the field. Through these activities, it serves as a forum for advancing cartographic knowledge and improving how maps are created, understood, and used.
