日本てんかん協会は、てんかんに関する情報や支援を提供するために設立された公益社団法人です。全国47都道府県に支部を持ち、患者やその家族、医師、専門家、ボランティアから成る多様なメンバーが参加しています。協会は、てんかんに関連する理解を深めるための啓発活動や調査活動を全国的に行っており、診断、治療、発作時の介助方法など、専門的な知識を広めています。また、情報誌「波」や関連書籍、DVDを通じて、より多くの人々がてんかんを理解し、正しい対応ができるよう支援しています。さらに、毎年10月には「てんかんを正しく理解する月間」として啓発活動を強化し、国際的なイベントも積極的に推進しています。
