Jesmond Library, originally opened on May 30, 1963, stands as a remarkable architectural gem in the North East, designed by Henry Faulkner Brown. Although it faced closure in March 2013 after decades of service, a dedicated group of local volunteers revived the library, transforming it into a thriving community hub. Officially reopened on September 21, 2013, Jesmond Library offers a wide range of free services, retaining its essential role in the community while expanding activities based on local input.

The library now serves all ages, providing not just access to books but also hosting events, workshops, and activities that foster community engagement. Supported by generous donations and volunteer efforts from local residents, the Friends of Jesmond Library operate as a limited company and registered charity, ensuring the library's continued success.
