## Description

“Jedes Katzenleben zählt” is a campaign by the Deutscher Tierschutzbund e.V. addressing the hardship faced by millions of stray cats in Germany. It works to make their often unseen suffering visible, inform the public, and encourage political action. A central goal is a nationwide requirement to neuter free-roaming cats, which the campaign says could help prevent further suffering and save lives. Its Katzenschutzreport examines the causes and scale of the problem, including the pressure on animal welfare organisations and shelters. The campaign also offers practical ways for people to help: have cats neutered, ensure they are identified and registered, donate to support shelters, volunteer with local animal welfare groups, and share information. It encourages prospective pet owners to consider adopting a cat from an animal shelter. Through public actions, campaign materials, and the Catmobil, a travelling vehicle that carries its message to selected events across Germany, “Jedes Katzenleben zählt” combines awareness-raising, community involvement, and advocacy for stronger cat protection.
