## Description

JGSI is the Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois, a non-profit organization founded in 1981. Their mission is to assist members in collecting, preserving, and perpetuating the records and history of their ancestors, particularly those with Chicago-area Jewish roots. As a valuable resource for the genealogical community worldwide, JGSI provides opportunities for research and supports individuals in uncovering their family history. JGSI is affiliated with the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS), coordinating with national and local Jewish Genealogical Societies (JGS) globally. Their board members, elected every two years, work tirelessly to fulfill the organization's goals. The society's events, including lectures and workshops, are accessible to members and held over Zoom. JGSI is also known for their extensive Jewish Chicago Database, Chicago Landsmanshaften, and other resources that aid in genealogical research. By offering membership, volunteer opportunities, and avenues for donations, JGSI aims to support individuals in their genealogical pursuits and ensure the preservation of Jewish ancestral records. Reach out to JGSI today to uncover your family history and connect with your roots.
