## Description

The Jewish Historical Society of Michigan (JHSM), established in 1959, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating Michigan's rich Jewish heritage. Committed to enlightening current and future generations, JHSM offers a variety of programs and services designed to engage the community. These include award-winning customizable bus tours that vividly bring the history of Jewish Michigan to life, as well as Speakers' Bureau presentations that provide armchair tours of Detroit's historic Jewish sites, synagogues, and cemeteries. The society also produces acclaimed publications, such as *Michigan Jewish History* and the *JHSM Bulletin*, to document the region's Jewish legacy. Additionally, innovative collaborations like The Henry Ford... THROUGH A JEWISH LENS enhance the understanding of Michigan’s cultural narrative. JHSM is driven by the belief that this history is a valuable asset for everyone, fostering appreciation and awareness through dedicated engagement, educational opportunities, volunteerism, and impactful recognition initiatives like the Leonard N. Simons History-Maker Award.
