## Description

João Blümel is a mentalist and performer whose work combines mind-reading with technology and audience participation. In 2020, he premiered The True Influencer at Lisbon’s Teatro Villaret, where every session sold out. Presented as the world’s first show to bring together mind-reading, virtual reality and high technology, it explores how technology influences everyday life, including what people wear and listen to, the friendships they form online and the information they share digitally.

The live experience invites viewers to take part and puts their choices and “digital personality” to the test. Blümel’s performances pair visual mind-reading with virtual, augmented and mixed reality, social networks and tech gadgets. An accompanying app for iPhone and Android enables the audience to interact with the mentalist and spectators on stage, adding another layer of participation.

Blümel also offers work across stage, corporate events, television and media. His approach connects entertainment with ideas about digital culture, creating interactive performances for audiences interested in both mentalism and the role of technology in their lives.
