## Description

JOBEL is an electronic fishing logbook designed by fishers for fishers and qualified by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) since 2018 for commercial fisheries in Canada. Developed as an alternative to paper logbooks, it helps professional fishers record and submit fishing activity data electronically. Its modules support lobster, crab, shrimp, small pelagic, groundfish, and tuna and swordfish fisheries.

The service works on smartphones, tablets, and computers, including Apple, Android, Chromebook, and Windows devices. No installation is required, and users can enter and save information offline while at sea, then send it to DFO when an internet connection is available. Submitted trips remain accessible in the user’s JOBEL account.

Fishers subscribe to individual modules for $65 per year per module. JOBEL also provides visual guides, video tutorials, FAQs, free training, personalized assistance, and technical support across Canada. A functional free demo is available. An initiative of the Regroupement des pêcheurs professionnels du sud de la Gaspésie, JOBEL is regularly updated to reflect fishers’ needs.
