## Description

John Bisbee is a renowned sculptor based in Maine, celebrated for his innovative use of nails as a medium. With over thirty years of artistic exploration, Bisbee has evolved from pure abstraction to a more allegorical realism, reflecting contemporary social and political themes in his work. His 2018 exhibition, "American Steel," showcased a striking collection that blends patriotism with poetic commentary on American society. Emphasizing the utilitarian aspects of the nail, Bisbee's sculptures challenge viewers to reconsider their preconceived notions through humor and pointed critiques.

Notable installations in "American Steel" include the evocative "Bouquet (This Arrangement No Longer Works For Us)" and provocative pieces like "Putin (Bear Witness To This Circus Dance)." Each work features an array of meticulously crafted elements, including pliers, chains, and various representations of American identity. Bisbee's artistry is marked by a dedication to transforming ordinary materials into thought-provoking commentary, asserting a unique voice in the contemporary art scene.
