The John P Mayhugh Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to building better pathways to recovery for military veterans and their families. Established in February 2017, the foundation honors the memory and legacy of John Powell Mayhugh, who tragically lost his battle with addiction and secondary post-traumatic stress at the age of 27. Recognizing the need for a more holistic approach to brain health, John's parents, Colonel Mary Lowe Mayhugh (Ret.

) and Kevin, along with his friends and colleagues, founded the foundation. Their goal is to address the systemic barriers to recovery and improve outcomes for individuals struggling with post-traumatic stress (PTS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and addiction. The foundation focuses on three core pillars: educating communities about PTS, TBI, and behavioral health issues, collaborating with stakeholders to increase access to resources, and facilitating awareness of the full spectrum of treatment options.
