## Description

Joy Carter is a UK-based comedian, writer, actress and adoption advocate whose work brings humour to conversations about diversity, identity and wellbeing. Known for original, inclusive and clean comedy, she draws on her own life story to create stand-up shows and talks that are both entertaining and thought-provoking. Her experience includes television, film, radio and news appearances, including BBC1, Sky News, Channel 4 and Newsnight.

Joy performs live comedy and offers corporate speaking on diversity, adoption and the power of humour. Her JOYtalk programme explores how laughter can support wellbeing, and she has worked with communities, charities, businesses, churches, organisations and government. She is also a Craic.health practitioner, contributing to comedy-on-prescription initiatives.

Through her writing, blogs and advocacy, Joy champions better outcomes for adopted children and adults, as well as fostering and racial justice. She established JOYLightZone Ltd as a platform for her humour and wellbeing work, including a forthcoming JOYtalk book and workbook, online training and planned merchandise.
