## Description

Wakefield 4th Parade is a beloved tradition in Wakefield since the 1920s. Considered a right of passage by longtime residents, this annual event brings the community together to celebrate Independence Day. Initially organized by various organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce and the West Side Social Club, the Wakefield Independence Day Committee (WIDC) was formed in 1991 by dedicated volunteers to ensure the parade's continuity. After a brief hiatus from 2012 to 2014, the WIDC was reorganized and successfully relaunched the July 4th parade in 2015. While their nonprofit status is currently being reinstated, the organization is registered as a 501(c)(3) and welcomes donations for the 2024 parade. The WIDC values volunteers and offers various opportunities to get involved throughout the year or on parade day. To learn more about the parade's history, meet the Board of Directors, and explore sponsorship and volunteer options, visit their website. Join Wakefield 4th Parade for a community celebration of our nation's independence.
