## Description

Juneau Shotokan Karate is a small non-profit dojo in Juneau, Alaska, offering traditional Shotokan karate instruction in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment. The club has taught in Juneau for more than 40 years and is directed by Sensei Doug Murray. Its volunteer instructors are affiliated with the International Shotokan Karate Federation and the Alaska Region Shotokan group, connecting students with recognized rankings, regional and national competitions, training camps, guest instructors, and extended testing opportunities.

Classes welcome beginners and experienced students ages seven and older, with families encouraged to train together. Instruction includes warm-ups, fundamental techniques, combinations, kata, sparring, and self-defense. Advanced sessions provide additional practice for black and brown belts. The dojo also offers group self-defense classes lasting 2.5 hours for groups of at least ten, covering awareness, de-escalation, escape, and practical defensive techniques.

Training takes place at the Yoga Path on Shaune Drive, with regular classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Monthly membership is $80 per person, with no monthly contract.
