The journey of June Cashmere began when J. C. Christensen and his family, owners of Morning Star Fiber in North Carolina, met a group of Kyrgyz artisans in the US.

The brand's founder, Sy Belohlavek, dedicated himself to economic development and moved to Kyrgyzstan in 2010.
