## Description

Päiväkoti Kaarnalaiva is a 40-place daycare in the Lintula neighbourhood of Oulu, Finland. It provides early childhood education and preschool education for children aged 0–6 in a small, home-like setting where every adult knows each child. The centre’s approach focuses on supporting children’s individual growth and development, taking their abilities and interests into account, and working closely with families.

Kaarnalaiva aims to nurture children’s development through a varied programme that gives balanced attention to different areas of early education. Daily life includes exercise, children’s yoga, music and singing, rhymes, crafts, science activities, drama and performances, as well as outings in nature and the local area. Sustainable development and cultural events are also part of the programme, while reading, play and song feature every day.

The preschool programme offers a safe, calm environment for practising everyday skills and preparing for the transition to school. Children also become familiar with school throughout the year through cooperation with nearby schools.
