## Description

Kage Games is a small independent studio creating new games and tools for retro computers, both old and new. Its work is made close to the hardware, reflecting the hands-on, low-level approach associated with classic computer software. The studio’s featured game, RetroStar, is a space-combat adventure for the ZX Spectrum Next, inspired by 1980s classics. Players travel across a galaxy, defend starbases and confront a Selenite invasion. Written entirely in machine code, the game is designed for the Spectrum Next and supports 50 or 60 Hz operation; a free demo is available.

Kage Games also offers Deluxe Pixel, a Windows PC pixel-art program with the feel of Deluxe Paint III, designed for creating art for retro machines. A free demo is listed. DPixel is another retro-inspired pixel-art editor for Windows, delivered as a single portable executable with no installer required. Through its games and creative tools, Kage Games brings contemporary software to retro-computing enthusiasts while retaining a close-to-the-metal development ethos.
